Pay Rate: Salary dependent on experience: £28,000 - £38,000 per annum PLUS BONUSES

Responsible to: Owner

Hours: Full Time

About the role

TreeBug Childminding is an established and well respected childcare provider in Stroud. The company is growing into TreeBug Childcare and a 55 place nursery. As our Nursery Manager, you’ll lead a caring, committed team and work closely with our experienced owner to grow and keep our setting running smoothly. You’ll be the driving force behind a safe, happy, and engaging environment for children to learn, grow, and thrive giving families the option of a gentle approach to childcare. Responsibilities
  • Leading and motivating the nursery team
  • Supporting and mentoring all practitioners
  • Modelling the skills and behaviours that safeguard and support children
  • Maintaining high standards of care through regular self-evaluation of the setting
  • Delivering a fun, engaging EYFS-based curriculum
  • Building strong relationships with parents and the local community
  • Recruiting new staff and welcoming new children into our setting
Essential criteria
  • Minimum 2 years nursery management experience
  • Builds warm, gentle, and non-coercive relationships with children and staff
  • Is open to ongoing training and professional growth
  • Attends regular supervision meetings and values reflective practice
  • Encourages open communication and genuine listening partnerships with colleagues and families
  • Shows emotional transparency and understands how our inner emotional world influences behaviour — in both children and adults
  • Is comfortable being challenged and offering truly honest feedback
  • Can hold and support the emotions of children, while also processing their own emotions (with support provided)
  • Respects children as capable, autonomous individuals with their own views and needs
  • trusts in children’s natural processes for emotional growth, learning, and development
  • Is familiar with, or willing to learn, all policies and procedures relating to TreeBug Childcare
Qualifications & requirements
  • Ability to carry out basic computer tasks and update the daily diary app and setting paperwork
  • Current Enhanced DBS
  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • EYFS Training
  • Safeguarding Lead Level 3 Training

Additional criteria (after further training): You will be expected to support the setting by:

  • Working well with others as part of a team
  • Showing patience and remaining calm in stressful situations
  • Being flexible and open to change
  • Working well under pressure
  • Completing children’s daily diaries, observations, and learning/development assessments, statutory obligations, liaising with outside agencies and building strong bonds with local schools
  • Planning engaging activities for the children
  • Liaising with parents to share updates and information
  • Cooking, preparing, and serving food/baby bottles
  • Leading the setting’s self-evaluation
  • Communicating with parents during handover times
  • Taking children on planned outings and ensuring their safety and wellbeing
  • Completing risk assessments to maintain a safe environment
  • Contributing to the setting’s policies and procedures
