Job description

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Nurse Associate to join our General Practice team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality patient care, supporting both patients and our nursing team in a dynamic primary care setting. As a Nurse Associate, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and person-centered care, contributing to the overall health and wellbeing of our patient population.

You will have the chance to develop your clinical skills, work closely with experienced nurses and GPs, and be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional care in the community.

Main duties of the job

Support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care within General Practice under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or GP.

Undertake routine clinical tasks including observations, wound care, ECGs, phlebotomy, and health checks in line with training and competency.

Assist with long-term condition reviews and health promotion activities.

Maintain accurate and confidential patient records using clinical systems.

Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Support infection prevention and control, safeguarding, and risk management processes.

Contribute to practice audits, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development.

The GP Suite is a friendly, well-established GP practice located in Jarrow, serving a patient population of approximately 4,550. Our clinical team includes three GP Partners, two Advanced Clinical Practitioners and two Practice Nurses, all of whom are supported by an excellent Administration, Reception and Management team.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the nursing associate in the context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation and how the role may contribute to service development.
  • Experience of quality initiatives, i.e., benchmarking.
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Registered nursing associate and on the Nursing and Midwifery Council register.
  • Meets the specific qualification and training requirements as specified in the Nursing Midwifery Standards of proficiency by having undertaken and completed the two-year Foundation Degree delivered by a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) approved provider.
