Job description

The Nuclear Projects Engineering Lead will provide strong leadership and integration across multidisciplinary engineering teams assigned to specific projects, to ensure successful delivery of nuclear projects. The role requires a deep commitment to nuclear safety culture, with broad technical experience across mechanical, piping, structural and civil engineering, combined with a sound understanding of the principles of process, electrical, and control & instrumentation (C&I) disciplines. The individual will operate with autonomy and responsibility, coordinating technical inputs, supporting configuration management, and ensuring that engineering solutions are robust and meet project standards, regulatory requirements and business objectives.

Profile

The Nuclear Projects Engineering Lead shall report to the Head of Engineering and shall work closely with other the Engineering disciplines and Business Lines in the UK for:

Knowledge / Skills
  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline. Chartered status within recognisable professional institutes is desirable. (CEng).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of nuclear power stations design.
  • Knowledge of Engineering processes, procedures, and operational requirements.
  • Broad, applied experience in mechanical, piping, structural and civil engineering, with proven ability to understand and apply the principles of process, electrical and C&I systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multidisciplinary inputs into coherent engineering solutions.
  • Configuration management principles and lifecycle information control within engineering projects.
  • In‑depth understanding of nuclear safety culture, codes, standards (e.g. ASME III / VIII / B31.3, RCC[1]M, EN, ISO 19443) and regulatory frameworks (ONR, IAEA).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with ability to work autonomously, take responsibility, and be accountable for outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to engage effectively with clients, regulators, and internal stakeholder.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to set, achieve and maintain high standards of safety and quality.
  • Quality requirements for the use of engineering software.
  • Understanding of engineering supply chain management and contract administration in a nuclear context.

Security Clearance
  • The role requires the appropriate level of UK security clearance for work at Sizewell B.
Work Environment
  • The role is primarily based at the Sizewell B site, with occasional travel to other Framatome or client locations as required.
