A prominent health organization in Scotland is looking for a compassionate and efficient Staff Nurse for its cardiology and medical stepdown ward. Candidates must have previous cardiology and/or medical experience and current NMC registration. The role requires managing patient care, supporting clinical skills development, and working in a team-focused environment. Ward 402/403, Cardiology and Medical Stepdown ward, is looking to recruit a compassionate and efficient Staff Nurse to join our team.
Ward 402/403 is a busy and challenging environment where we aspire to support, nurture and develop staff as they demonstrate their clinical skills, theoretical knowledge and potential they pose to become great Registered Nurses.
Ward 402 is a 12 bedded female ward and Ward 403 is a 15 bedded male ward. Both wards have a main nightingale ward layout, with each ward having one single room, a 3 bedded balcony and ward 403 with an extra 3 bedded side room.
We receive ‘stepdown’ patients from Cardiology plus direct admissions from our Cardiology Day Case Unit and facilitate transfers from our North of Scotland partners in Orkney and Shetland (Dr Grays, Gilbert Bain, Balfour and Raigmore) as part of our Tertiary Centre responsibilities on the cardiology pathway. We also receive patients from a multitude of other wards including the general medical pathway.
We aim to provide excellent, patient-centred care by developing a well-rounded team and ensuring our team are skilled at escalation, management of deteriorating or palliative patients, and are well-versed in communicating with a multitude of different specialities.
We are passionate about improving the service we provide and to help us achieve this we are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join us.
Previous cardiology and/or medical experience is essential, and experience in discharge planning would be beneficial. The post has an expectation of working 12-hour shift pattern with day/night rotation.
You will be a positive and friendly team player with the ability to remain calm and work on your own initiative.
