Position: NPD (New Product Development) Technologist
Responsible To: NPD Manager
Reason for Position: Provision of assistance within the New Product Development Department and develop expertise in line with the company's growth and development.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Preparation and Development of Products
- Recipe development and specification details recorded accurately
- Homogenisation of sauces and preparation of product to specification
- Test for Quality Control data; raw material, drained weights, salt content, pH
- Heat Penetration Procedures
- Sensory Evaluation of samples
- Product Shelf‑Life determination
Research and Development of Production Processes
- Collation of data
- Testing of new or alternative ingredients
Research & Development of Product
- Product monitoring
- Benchmarking samples
- Recipe Development for product serving suggestions
- Food presentation for photography
Sample Send Out Procedures
- Preparation of samples
- Maintaining stocks of all BP & FP Products for sample send out centre
- Labelling & Packaging of samples
- Recording & Reporting of despatch details
Preparation of Taste Panel
- Daily Quality Control Taste Panel Procedure
- Visitors Taste Panel – presented & maintained
Promotion of Products
- Preparation of products in innovative recipes for visitors
- Knowledge & Understanding of products for Educational & Health Promotion purpose.
- Carry out all lifting tasks in line with instruction and Manual Handling Instruction.
- Ensure adherence to correct Hygiene procedures.
- Follow H.A.C.C.P. procedures.
- Compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
Communication
- Attend departmental meetings to address planned work and/or issues arising.
- Communicate Company policy to colleagues in production departments.
- Report to the Product Development Manager on issues affecting work plan.
- Liaison with other departments and respective Management as necessary.
- Communication with customers and visitors as necessary.
- Creation and sending of written as necessary internally and externally.
Miscellaneous
- Compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
- Participate in any development and training programs put in place in line with attaining company goals and aims.
- Day to day housekeeping/hygiene of department including the taste panel room and NPD cupboards.
- Stock control and replenishment of items as and when required and maintain standards
