Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a part‑time Non‑Medical Prescriber to join our Primary Care / Mental Health team at HMP Kirkham, a Category D prison located in Kirkham, Preston. The role is in the prison's own Healthcare Department, working alongside Primary Care nurses, Healthcare Assistants and GP's. The prison holds a capacity of 700 males.

Hours, Salary & Benefits

Hours: Full time 18.75 hours per week, various shifts covering Monday‑Friday with flexible days. Typical timetable 9 am – 5 pm.

Salary: £51,643 – £58,012 per annum, pro‑rota based on experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Undertake clinical nursing practice at an advanced level using expert knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues, ensuring the maintenance of clinical excellence.
  • Prescribe medication within scope of competence.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments of patients looked after.
  • Provide advice/support in crisis situations and develop treatment plans.
  • Conduct clinical reviews with patients and update care plans accordingly.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Current active registration NMC Adult / Mental Health or HCPC.
  • Non‑medical prescribing qualification.
  • RGCP1 and RGCP2 trained or willing to work towards.
  • Understanding of policy developments related to primary care services, including Clinical Governance, Quality & Outcomes Framework.
  • Knowledge of evidence‑based practice.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
