Join Police Digital Service as a NMC Cyber Trend Analyst. Full time, Permanent. Salary starting at £50,000

About Police Digital Service

The National Management Centre (NMC) is a core part of Police Digital Service (PDS), providing 24 / 7 / 365 cyber threat detection, response, and risk management capabilities across UK policing. We help forces proactively understand and mitigate cyber risks at both national and local levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible?for?gathering, normalising, and integrating cybersecurity‑related data from multiple sources (e.g., SIEM, threat feeds, vulnerability sources, and cloud platforms) to?develop trends and to detect?threats,?vulnerabilities,?and anomalies. ?
  • Ability to translate raw data into meaningful insights that inform security posture or service improvements.
  • Development of dashboards, reports, and visualisations to communicate data analysis, security posture, trends, and emerging threats to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the effectiveness of cybersecurity services and trend analysis initiatives.
  • Responsible for ensuring data quality, consistency, and completeness for accurate analysis.
  • Engage with internal teams across the NMC (Detect and Respond, Malware Analysis, Vulnerability Management, Threat Hunting, Threat Intelligence) and PDS (Assurance, Compliance, DDaT) to ensure a data‑led mentality is integrated across all cyber defence functions.
What you need to succeed in the role
Essential
  • Strong?ability?to?interpret?complex?data?sets?and?identify?trends?related?to?cyber security? threats.
  • Familiarity?with?cybersecurity?principles,?data?analysis?tools,?and threat detection?techniques.
  • Skilled in data analysis statistical methods, and trend analysis.
  • Critical thinking to identify patterns and anomalies.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), data visualisation, and performance analytics frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills - able to translate disparate data sets into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.
Desirable Experience?
  • Understanding of threat landscapes, attack vectors, and adversary tactics (MITRE ATT&CK framework).
  • Proficiency in SQL / KQL and Resource Graph for data scripting, transformation and automation.
  • Familiarity with Azure and Fabric, using dataflows and data lakes to build scalable datasets.
  • Understanding of UK policing cyber environment.

Working Arrangements

At the NMC, you will benefit from hybrid working, getting the advantages of both face‑to‑face team engagement and home working. NMC employees have the opportunity to work in our modern office environment for in‑person collaboration, however you will also get the opportunity to work from home 2 days a week.

All applicants must be eligible for NPPV3 and SC clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been approved before starting with PDS.
