Job summary

John Lewis Partnership’s Waitrose Shop in Thame is seeking a Team Manager to lead and motivate a small team during busy, customer‑facing trading hours. You’ll drive excellent service, manage rosters, and ensure compliant, profitable store operation across the shift pattern.

You’ll oversee day‑to‑day operations, support holiday planning, handle performance conversations, and foster a culture of care and high standards while adapting to flexible hours from 20:00 to 06:00. DBS checks may apply.

Qualifications

• Experience of leading a team in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Ability to build high-performing teams, recognise talent, and hold regular performance conversations.
• A passion for retail, understanding competitors and market factors impacting the Partnership.
• Ability to assess workload realistically and adapt plans to ensure deadlines are hit.
• Ability to communicate with clarity and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the shop.
• Maximise sales and minimise wastage while ensuring availability and merchandising.
• Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction and a secure store operation.
• Lead and manage the team, including holidays and absences.
• Create a culture of care, pace and productivity and drive change onsite.
