About the Firm A leading national audit, tax, and advisory practice with a strong international network is seeking an Assistant Manager to join its expanding Private Client Tax team in the Thames Valley. The Role

As a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager, you’ll take ownership of a varied client portfolio, managing compliance and advisory work for individuals, partnerships, and trusts. You’ll act as a trusted adviser, working closely with clients and senior colleagues to deliver technically robust and commercially focused tax solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of private clients, ensuring compliance and advisory services are delivered efficiently and accurately.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, maintaining strong, proactive relationships.
  • Review complex personal tax returns and oversee work prepared by junior team members.
  • Advise on a range of private client tax issues, including residence and domicile, CGT, IHT, trusts, and shareholder planning.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and contribute to client development and cross-service collaboration.
  • Support partners and directors with bespoke advisory projects and technical research.
  • Provide mentoring and on-the-job training to junior members of the team.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the firm’s quality standards, within deadlines and budget.
About You
  • CTA, ACA, or ATT qualified (or equivalent), with solid experience in private client tax within a professional practice.
  • Excellent technical knowledge across personal tax compliance and advisory work.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships independently.
  • Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with an eye for detail.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in contributing to business development.
  • Experience supervising and reviewing junior team members’ work.
  • Familiarity with CCH Personal Tax or similar software preferred but not essential.
