Job description

As part of the Social Partnership, Employability and Fair Work Directorate, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the Welsh Government's Apprenticeship policy. This is an opportunity to influence strategic direction and make a real impact on skills development across Wales.

Successful candidates will be appointed to one of two Apprenticeship Manager posts for the duration of the secondment or loan. As an Apprenticeship Manager, you will lead and support a broad range of work including policy development and implementation, stakeholder engagement, budget support, monitoring & reporting, and Government Business.

What You'll Do

• Policy Development & Implementation Drive the development, delivery, and evaluation of Apprenticeship policy and legislation.
• Monitoring & Reporting Manage progress against the Apprenticeship Policy Statement and Assembly Committee actions, prepare briefings, impact papers, and evaluations for senior managers and colleagues.
• Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners such as Medr, Qualifications Wales, learning providers, sector bodies, employers and devolved administrations.
• Risk & Issue Management Work with internal and external colleagues to identify, manage, and mitigate risks in delivering policy commitments and Committee(s) report actions.
• Budget & Resource Support Assist senior managers in managing the Apprenticeship budget and ensuring effective use of resources.
• Representation & Collaboration Represent Welsh Government on panels such as the three-country Standards & Framework Panel and, as directed by senior managers, provide input into the framework activities of the Regional Skills Partnerships and other employer groups.
• Government Business Draft, check, and respond to Government Business related to Apprenticeships.
• Evaluation & Impact Provide periodic evaluations of Welsh Apprenticeships policy & legislation work and measure success against Well-being of Future Generations goals.
• Undertake ad-hoc tasks as directed by the Senior Managers of the Apprenticeship Team.
