Job Summary

A position has become available working in our Caf Lomas within Stratford Hospital, with the possible need to work on our ward doing patient feeding and helping with domestic cleaning duties. The successful applicant will help prepare and sell food and drinks for patients, visitors and staff, delivering a high‑quality catering service while maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with the specification. This role is 30 hours, to be discussed at the interview.

Main Duties of the Job

Caf Lomas is a healthy living, community‑focused food and drink provider situated in Building One Stratford Hospital. The post holder will prepare and sell food and beverage items for patients, visitors and staff in our retail area, and provide a high‑quality catering service in the Caf, patient feeding and domestic service, maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with the specification.

SWFT Clinical Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT). The company provides a range of services including outpatient pharmacy facilities, estates and facilities management, private patient service and consultancy services to NHS Trusts.

Job Responsibilities

Work within Caf Lomas and domestics/patient feeding as required. Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient day‑to‑day running of Caf Lomas. Prepare menu items ahead of service times, freshly prepare and serve food to order. Support the Caf Lomas Coordinator with day‑to‑day administration, including cash handling with EPOS till and card machine, ordering and receiving supplies and retail stock. Follow monitoring systems as detailed in HACCP, ensure good stock rotation and security, adhere to cleaning schedules and ensure “clean as you do” rules are followed. Report defects, injuries or accidents. Use equipment such as electronic cash register and coffee barista machine. Provide courteous service, aware of customer needs and special requirements such as allergens. Monitor and collate customer feedback. Oversee volunteer work, delegating tasks. Maintain PPE and work procedures. Ensure compliance with Trust policies, Food Hygiene Policy, and legislation.

Patient Catering

Prepare patient meals, collate ready for transport to wards, manoeuvre and transport trollies of food, lift heavy boxes. Exposure to cold temperatures when retrieving from fridges and freezers. Training provided; experience not required.

Cleaning

Use a variety of cleaning materials, manoeuvre trollies containing equipment, maintain cleanliness and hygiene. Perform tasks in patient and non‑patient environments, including specialised cleaning tasks, responding to service needs. Contribute to safety, health and infection control standards.
