Job Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Multi Skilled Engineer to join our Pobl Trades Team in Cwmbran on a full time, permanent basis. We're looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join our Reactive Repairs team, making a real difference in the community. If you're passionate about hands on work and want to be part of something meaningful, we'd love to hear from you! Ideally, you'll bring experience in carpentry as your core trade, with additional skills in plumbing would be a great bonus! But don't worry if you don't cover all trades, we still want to hear from you.

Qualifications
  • City & Guilds or NVQ (or equivalent) in carpentry (or significant experience)
  • Practical experience in carpentry, ideally in domestic settings
  • Confidence working in people's homes with a professional, courteous approach
  • Willingness to support other trades (e.g., basic plumbing, plastering, brickwork)
  • Flexible, positive attitude and strong commitment to health and safety
  • Full UK driving licence

Bonus if you've worked in social housing or used mobile working systems - but not essential.

Pobl Repairs are the Operational Delivery team within Pobl who currently turn around over 1,000 Empty Homes, install over 1,000 planned kitchen and bathroom upgrades and will manage over 55,000 reactive repairs each year. With exciting plans to grow our team in the coming months, we will continue to work closely with our many partner organisations to achieve much more than we could alone. We also listen to our colleagues and our customers to deliver innovative local services that make a difference to the communities that we serve.

Where you’ll work
  • Our Pobl Repairs Team covers areas between Haverfordwest and Monmouthshire, with our office base for this role being Cwmbran.
  • Working days are predominately Monday to Friday days or you can work compressed hours on a 9 day fortnight.
  • 26 days holiday, plus Bank holidays. Rising to 31 days with an extra day for each full year of service.
  • Maternity & Adoption Leave: 20 weeks.
  • Paternity Leave: 3 weeks.
Pay & Pension
  • Salary is £32,512 for a 40 hour full time permanent position.
  • Pension Choices: Defined Contribution (DC) Scheme with matched contributions up to 10%. Or, Defined Benefit (DB) 1/80th of final salary for every year of service.

  • A basic DBS is required for the role, which we pay for.

Role & Responsibilities

You will provide a repairs and maintenance service to our properties, carrying out a range of specified building maintenance works both as an individual craft professional and as part of a multi skilled team. Your primary focus will be on our reactive maintenance team, handling day to day repairs for our tenanted properties, which could include gaining entry when required and repairing UPVC windows and doors. Occasionally, you may lend your expertise to other areas of the business, such as voids or planned maintenance.
