Job summary

A leading healthcare institution in the UK is seeking an MTO/Trainee Healthcare Scientist to be a core member of the NHS laboratory team. The successful candidate will perform specialist procedures and engage in translational R&D within a national reference centre renowned for Neuroimmunology testing. This role requires strong analytical and technical skills, as well as experience in a diagnostic or research laboratory. Qualifications

Job description
MTO/Trainee Healthcare Scientist (Band 5)

Location: NHS Neuroimmunology & CSF Laboratory, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London. This laboratory is a national reference centre with an international reputation for Neuroimmunology testing and cerebrospinal fluid analysis.

Overview: The successful candidate will be a core member of the NHS laboratory team, performing specialist procedures in accordance with departmental SOPs, participating in regular updates, audit, and aiding in specialised method development. The role offers an exciting opportunity for involvement in translational R&D.

Responsibilities
  • Train other staff in the team on request.
  • Meet service requirements and turnaround times of the Department.
  • Carry out analytical, technical, quality management and administrative troubleshooting, and maintain adequate supplies of reagents and consumables to ensure reliable service delivery in accordance with ISO 15189:2022.
  • Perform specialist techniques as dictated by the nature of the Department, requiring highly developed manual skills.
  • Perform additional role duties in the team.
  • Evaluate and aid in the introduction of new complex laboratory techniques and tests.
