Overview
New City College is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and industry-qualified Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to join our dynamic curriculum team. This role covers courses ranging from Entry Level to Level 3, including college-based and work-based qualifications for both young people and adult learners.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and innovative lessons that foster student achievement, progression and industry readiness.
- Teach and assess both theory and practical components in alignment with City & Guilds standards.
- Act as a personal tutor and mentor, providing academic and pastoral support to a diverse cohort of learners.
- Design and deliver flexible, employer‑responsive training programmes.
- Ensure delivery of qualifications complies with awarding body standards and requirements.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, course reviews and quality improvement processes.
- Maintain strong links with employers and industry partners.
- Support growth of the Motor Vehicle provision by promoting the College’s services and identifying training needs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, DTLLS, Cert Ed) or willingness to achieve one.
- Assessor award (A1 or equivalent); V1 Internal Verifier qualification desirable.
- Proven experience delivering Motor Vehicle Engineering training and assessment.
- Ability to design engaging, learner‑centred teaching strategies and materials.

- Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
Employer‑Specific Requirements
- Knowledge of City & Guilds standards for Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles.
- Experience designing flexible, employer‑responsive programmes.
