Job summary

RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician in the SMR division. You will perform planned maintenance, diagnostics, and in-depth repairs for members’ vehicles at driveways or workplaces, using a fully equipped RAC van and advanced diagnostics.

The role offers a 40-hour week, with core hours 8:30 am–5:00 pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays, plus guaranteed overtime and bonus opportunities to boost earnings.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) is required.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic is required.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• Perform in-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.

Education
