Job summary

The RAC is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for our SMR division in the Reading cluster. You’ll work on a pre-booked schedule across areas like Reading, Wokingham and Bracknell, with no emergency callouts and a fully equipped RAC van.

Your day involves routine servicing, diagnostics with mobile equipment, and in‑depth repairs, plus practical member advice. A stable 40-hour week, with some Saturday work, offers flexibility and the chance to build long‑term skills.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 2+ years’ experience in vehicle maintenance or 5+ years in a similar role.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
