Job summary

The RAC is expanding its SMR division with a Mobile Vehicle Technician role in the Reading cluster. You’ll perform planned, pre-booked servicing, diagnostics, and repairs using mobile equipment, with a fully equipped RAC van and support from a structured schedule.

You’ll work 40 hours weekly, with core hours 8:30 am–5:00 pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays, driving to customers’ locations in the Reading area and beyond. An on‑the‑road role designed for skilled technicians seeking predictability and growth.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
