Job summary

The RAC is expanding its SMR division with Mobile Vehicle Technicians who work on pre-booked tasks across Reading and surrounding areas. You’ll diagnose, service, and repair vehicles at members’ homes or workplaces, delivering quality fixes without emergency callouts.

You’ll operate from a fully equipped RAC van, with fuel card, uniform, and tools, plus a structured schedule and guaranteed overtime options to boost earnings.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience OR 5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and diagnostics using mobile equipment.
• Perform in-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection results.
• Complete vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
