Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division in Reading and surrounding areas. You will handle pre-booked jobs, performing routine servicing, Diagnostics with mobile gear, and in-depth repairs with guidance and parts.

Expect structured days, a fully equipped RAC van, and consistent, non-emergency work. You’ll work on a planned schedule across Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Henley-on-Thames, and nearby towns, focusing on quality service and safety checks as part of RAC

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic and a full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

Education

NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience

5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic and a full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
