Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division in the Reading cluster. You will handle pre-booked, on-site servicing and diagnostics with a fully equipped RAC van, delivering quality work away from emergencies.

You’ll work a 40-hour week with regular Saturdays, use advanced mobile diagnostics, and perform planned repairs to keep members moving safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 2+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic or 5+ years’ experience in mobile repair roles.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
