Job summary

The RAC is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division, delivering planned, pre-booked work from neighbourhood clusters around Reading. You’ll perform servicing, diagnostics and in-depth repairs with specialised mobile equipment, in a fully equipped RAC van and with a defined schedule that avoids reactive callouts.

You’ll operate in the Reading cluster area, covering Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Henley‑on‑Thames and nearby towns, with a 40-hour week (Mon–Sat 8:00–20:00) and

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic and a full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
