Job summary

The RAC is expanding its SMR division to deliver planned, structured maintenance directly to members. As a Mobile Vehicle Technician, you’ll handle pre-booked jobs, carry out servicing and diagnostics, and provide clear guidance to members on repairs and safety.

You’ll operate in the Stevenage cluster with a fully equipped RAC van, normal 40-hour weeks, and flexibility around Monday–Saturday shifts. Overtime and bonuses can boost earnings up to £52,000.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• Experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic with full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In‑depth repairs normally done in a workshop.
• Member advice and recommendations after inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
