Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician in the SMR division, covering the Reading cluster and surrounding areas. You will work on a pre-booked schedule with a fully equipped RAC van, handling planned appointments rather than reactive callouts.

You perform routine servicing, diagnostics with mobile equipment, and in‑depth repairs to RAC standards, while advising members on findings. The role is 40 hours weekly, with some Saturdays, and requires a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience
• Alternatively, 5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing
• Perform diagnostics using mobile equipment
• Complete in‑depth repairs as would be done in a workshop
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
