Job summary

RAC is expanding its SMR division and seeks a Mobile Vehicle Technician. Your day is pre-booked on a clear digital schedule with no emergency callouts, allowing you to focus on quality work.

You'll operate in the Newbury cluster (Newbury, Thatcham, Andover, Hungerford, Lambourn), out on the road with a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, and advanced diagnostics. Duties include routine servicing, diagnostics, in-depth repairs, and giving member advice.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
