Qualifications

  • Qualified up to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician is highly regarded.
  • Valid Class 1 licence is desirable but training will be provided.

Location: Bristol Based
Hours: Monday to Friday - 04:00hrs - 13:30hrs

Job Description:

As a Mobile HGV Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet remains safe, compliant, and operational. This is a hands‑on position where you'll travel to customer sites and roadside locations to carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs on trucks and trailers. You'll be responsible for diagnosing and fixing mechanical and electrical faults, performing routine maintenance, and preparing vehicles for MOT compliance.

This role offers variety and independence, requiring strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision. You'll also interact directly with customers, providing professional service and building strong relationships. In addition, you'll maintain accurate records of all work completed and adhere to health and safety standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • On-the-Go Service: Carry out maintenance, and repair of trucks and trailers at customer locations and roadside as required.
  • Diagnostic Expertise: Use your skills to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults efficiently.
  • Electrical Repairs: Replace and repair electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Precision Work: Operate tools and equipment with accuracy and care.
  • Welding: Perform welding and metal repairs when needed.
  • Company Vehicle: You will be provided with a fully kitted out Gregory Van to carry out your work. This will be to assist you with travelling between customer sites and any breakdowns.
  • Parts Management: Order and manage parts to keep mobile operations seamless.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with customers on‑site, ensuring excellent service and professionalism.
  • Detailed Record‑Keeping: Record time and details of all jobs carried out meticulously.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all company policies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in training and development programs to stay updated with the latest industry standards and technologies.
Requirements
  • Education & Experience: Qualified up to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent, or proven experience as an HGV Technician.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Diagnostic skills and qualifications are desirable.
  • Licensing: A valid Class 1 licence is desirable, but we will provide training and support to help you obtain it.
  • Location: For this role, you must be based within Bristol due to the location of most of our customer sites within the Bristol area.
