Midday Mealtime Supervisor – SEND School

Location: Sidcup, Borough of Bexley
Hours: 11:30am – 1:30pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: £13.69 per hour
Contract: Full-time and part-time opportunities available

We are working in partnership with a special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) school in Sidcup to recruit a caring and reliable Midday Mealtime Supervisor.

This role involves supporting students during the lunchtime period in a specialist setting, working with pupils with autism, Down syndrome, complex needs, and behavioural difficulties. You will help ensure a safe, calm, and positive mealtime experience while promoting independence and positive social interaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise students during lunch and break times
  • Support pupils with eating, social interaction, and personal care where required
  • Encourage positive behaviour and model appropriate social skills
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times
  • Assist with transitions between classroom, dining, and playground areas
  • Work closely with teaching and support staff to maintain a structured environment
The Ideal Candidate
  • Patient, calm, and compassionate
  • Confident supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Able to manage behaviour in a positive and consistent manner
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Previous experience in a SEND or school setting is desirable but not essential
Compliance & Safeguarding
  • Enhanced DBS check (on the Update Service or willingness to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Two professional references
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Completion of required safeguarding and compliance training prior to placement
