Job description

Alpha Scientific is at the forefront of chemical and microbiological testing, reliably providing organisations with detailed analysis of water and air quality.

We are a team of highly skilled and trained scientists who work from purpose-built, UKAS accredited laboratories in Sittingbourne, Slough and Manchester.

Now part of the Genuit Groups’ Climate Management Solutions (CMS) business unit, Alpha has ambitious growth plans.

Full time - Friday to Tuesday. Hours will vary between 8-4 and 11-7.

Lab based.

The Role

The Microbiology Analyst will work together with the Laboratory Team to carry out microbiological testing on water to specific SOP’s and ensure all quality control procedures are followed to ensure the validity of results. The individual should have enthusiasm for science and wish to develop technically within Microbiology. The Microbiology Analyst will play an active part in ensuring the highest quality of service to clients and adherence to standards.

Responsibilities
  • The Microbiology Analyst is responsible for ensuring that all samples received in the laboratory are correctly recorded and processed to client requirements within the appropriate time frame.
  • The Microbiology Analyst should be familiar with the regulatory requirements specific to the laboratory and ensures all users are in compliance with those standards.
  • The Microbiology Analyst will assist in maintaining the laboratory accreditation to ISO 17025.
  • The Microbiology Analyst will assist ensuring that all instrumentations/equipment are functioning properly to enable confidence in results generated.

  • Slough lab: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).
