Job responsibilities

At Care in Mind our homes are always a hub of activity and energy where the young people can feel safe, and our staff enjoy coming to work. Your role will involve working with our young people to promote independence through support with education, household tasks and general life skills. You will also update online care records and complete medication administration. In addition, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring the young people live in a homely environment.

At our home in Huddersfield, you will be working with young people who have a variety of mental health diagnoses including personality disorder, difficulties with food, and self‑harm strategies. You will be required to be patient and resilient as the support you provide will include helping them improve their relationship with food and managing incidents of self‑harm. A number of our young people are preparing for a positive transition into the community, so you will support this transition through self‑administration of medication, re‑entry into education, accessing public transport, and appointments independently. Our young people are adventurous and enjoy activities such as theme parks, rock climbing and go ape, meaning there will never be a dull moment on shift. The home is a 5‑bed service located near a wooded area of Huddersfield, providing scenic local walks. It is also a short drive or bus journey from the centre of Huddersfield and Brighouse, close to many local amenities. The house is a large, well‑maintained, homely property with huge grounds suitable for growing veg and playing outdoor games.

Previous care experience is not essential; full training will be provided. You will receive ongoing support and mentoring from our friendly residential and clinical team.

The job is highly rewarding and offers an excellent start to developing your career with young people or enhancing your previous mental‑health experience, with opportunities for career development.
