Job description
Overview

The Surgical Division is seeking to recruit to the challenging but rewarding role of a Mental Health Liaison Nurse. Working with different MDT colleagues, the focus of your role will be to support staff working with people with mental health problems on Trauma and Orthopaedic wards F18, F19 and F20, providing specialist short term interventions with a focus on recovery and management. We encourage knowledge sharing and teamwork so all team members are involved with the full range of best practice interventions.

A further focus of your role will be to support the growing number of newly qualified nurses on the ward who may have limited knowledge around supporting patients who have a mental health condition.

We are looking for someone with experience of managing mental health conditions and challenging behaviour including undertaking specialist risk assessments, management plans, providing advice and support to staff, patients and families. Experience of DOLS, restraint, Mental Health assessments, safeguarding referrals and management is essential.

You will need to have effective communication skills with experience of liaising with other healthcare organisations and multidisciplinary teams.

You will lead and offer expert advice to manage patient\'s behaviours and needs ensuring a holistic assessment and management plan.
