Job summary

A recruitment agency in Reading is looking for a full-time Mental Health Assistant/Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for graduates in Psychology, Counselling, or Criminology. You will support children with mental health issues and work alongside trained professionals in a SEN setting. Strong adaptability and resilience are essential. Salary ranges from £85-£95 per day.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology or related field; graduates in similar fields will be considered.
  • Level 3 qualifications or higher; a degree is desirable.
  • Experience with SEN or SEMH is desirable but not essential; relevant experience will be considered.

Primary Phase

Responsibilities
  • Support children with mental health issues and complex needs in a SEN setting.
  • Work alongside trained therapists, counsellors and psychologists on-site at the school.
  • Be proactive and adaptable, using own initiative; demonstrate resilience and confidence to work with challenging behaviour.
  • Shadow sessions and learn from on-site therapists and psychologists; gain experience in SEMH and special needs support.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology or related field; graduates in similar fields will be considered.
  • Level 3 qualifications or higher; a degree is desirable.
  • Experience with SEN or SEMH is desirable but not essential; relevant experience will be considered.
  • Able to work with children aged 4 to 11 and support consistent, child-centred care.
