Job summary

A leading research university in the UK seeks a knowledgeable Medicinal Chemistry researcher to investigate inflammation-related respiratory disorders. The role requires a Master's degree and practical experience in organic chemistry and analytical techniques. Emphasis will be on synthesizing compounds and evaluating their therapeutic effects. This part-time position is fixed until September 2026 and offers a salary of £39,735 per annum plus allowances.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a Master's degree in Medicinal Chemistry or a related field.
  • Practical experience of complex organic reactions is required.
  • Familiarity with small-molecule characterization techniques is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research focusing on inflammation and respiratory disorders.
  • Synthesize novel chemical scaffolds and assess their efficacy.
  • Manage laboratory operations and maintain electronic inventory.

Skills

MSc in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry or Pharmacy
Practical experience of C-C, N-C and amide coupling reactions
Knowledge of small-molecule characterization techniques
Knowledge of software packages including Word, Excel
Knowledge of analytical and preparative LC-MS techniques
Track record of published research
Research experience in Synthetic and Medicinal Chemistry
Experience in chemistry laboratory management
Record of presenting scientific research
Excellent interpersonal skills
