An orthopaedic hospital in the UK is looking for a Medical Secretary in Radiology. The role involves providing comprehensive secretarial support to Consultant Radiologists, managing diaries, typing reports, and effective communication with patients. Ideal candidates should have qualifications such as AMSPAR diploma and at least 3 years of experience in a medical secretarial role, preferably within the NHS. This position requires strong knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to handle challenging conversations.

The Radiology Medical Secretary provides an efficient and comprehensive professional secretarial service to the Consultant Radiologists and Radiology Fellows. To exercise initiative and independent judgement whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times.
Under current Home Office Immigration Rules, this role does not meet the UK Visas and Immigration criteria and the position is not therefore eligible for sponsorship. Applications from candidates that require skilled worker sponsorship will NOT be shortlisted.

To work as part of a secretarial team providing cross cover in the absence of other Radiology Medical Secretarial staff, thus maintaining a highly efficient secretarial service to the Consultant Radiologists/Radiology Fellows.
To develop and acquire detailed knowledge and understanding of medical terminology throughout sub-specialities, being able to undertake typing of radiology reports (all imaging modalities) to RSH Stage III standard through audio word processing, shorthand dictation and the RIS (Radiology Information System).
Distribute radiology reports as necessary to the relevant healthcare professions
Deal with frequent interruption and prioritise personal and consultant workloads whilst maintaining a high level of concentration.
Type and distribute summary and letters for Consultant Radiologists
Communicate with patients in a professional and helpful manner, showing due empathy particularly when dealing with anxious/distressed patients.
Become a proficient Superuser on Radiology Systems
