Job description

Permanent Role | 38 Hours per Week

We are looking for an experienced and reliable GP Practice Receptionist to join our friendly surgery team in East London. We are seeking someone who can provide continuity and excellent patient service.

Working Hours

38 hours per week over 4 days:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: 08:00 – 18:30

  • 1-hour unpaid lunch break each day

Ideally, we are looking for someone who can match these hours as closely as possible. However, there is some flexibility for full day / AM / PM swaps with the existing team if required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greeting and assisting patients in person and over the phone

  • Managing appointments, repeat prescriptions, and patient queries

  • Using the practice’s clinical system to update records and process requests

  • Supporting clinicians and administrative staff with daily duties

  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring a professional service at all times

  • Handling incoming correspondence, emails, and administrative tasks

Requirements
  • Experience working in a GP Surgery or healthcare reception (preferred)

  • Confident using GP clinical systems (EMIS Web or similar)

  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure in a busy environment

  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
