Mechanical Fitters & Pipefitters - INEOS Saltend

Contract Type: 5 Weeks work

Start Date: 26th September 2025 (May be required a few days earlier for training and inductions)

Salary: £22.44 per hour plus £2.37 hourly bonus

Role Details

We currently have an opportunity at Saltend for Mechanical Fitters and Pipefitters.

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the repair and servicing of various types of mechanical plant and industrial machinery.

As a Pipefitter, you will be required to make up sections of high and/or low-pressure piping systems ready for installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ascertain job requirements from drawings and/or other specifications.
  • Examine faulty plant or machinery and ascertain nature and location of defects.
  • Study plant or machinery drawings, technical manuals or other specifications.
  • To select length of stainless steel, steel alloy, iron, copper, aluminium or plastic piping and to cut it to the required size with hacksaw, pipe cutter or machine.
  • To prepare and position pipework and flanges for subsequent welding, alignment orientation, gaps, spacing, straightness whilst welding and arc welding.
  • Determine sequence and method of required operations.
  • Dismantle plant or machinery and remove damaged or worn parts.
  • Repair defective parts, obtain replacement parts or prepare new parts using hand and machine tools, fit and assemble parts to rebuild plant or machinery.
  • Test plant or machinery for correct functioning and make necessary adjustments.
  • Carry out service tasks such as cleaning, oiling and greasing, according to schedule.
  • Perform all of these tasks in relation to the repair and servicing of various types of mechanical plant and industrial machinery.
  • Operate overhead crane/basic slinging in a safe manner.
  • Install or reposition plant or machinery.
  • Modify standard machinery for special purposes.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including safety checks of tools and equipment.
  • Use all relevant workshops/site equipment associated with job requirements.
Key Requirements
  • You will have completed a recognised training programme and have experience within the oil & gas industry or other continuous process industry.
  • Appropriate qualifications such as CompEx, City & Guilds, ONC/HNC or equivalent should be held.
  • Valid CCNSG Safety Passport
  • MIJ10 Qualification preferred but not essential
