Mechanical Engineer - Static Site

Location: Liver Building, Liverpool

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £40,000 (DOE)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (Flexible start/finish times)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the iconic Liver Building. This is a static, full-time position focused on maintaining and improving complex mechanical systems within a Grade I listed property. The successful candidate will play a critical role in preserving the building's heritage while ensuring modern operational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair legacy heating systems, including steam boilers and associated infrastructure
  • Conduct routine and reactive maintenance on plumbing, boiler, and heating systems
  • Diagnose faults and implement effective solutions with minimal disruption to building operations
  • Liaise with contractors and heritage specialists to ensure compliance with listed building regulations
  • Support energy efficiency initiatives while respecting the building's historic integrity
  • Maintain accurate records of work carried out and system performance
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience working with old heating systems, particularly steam boilers
  • Strong background in plumbing and mechanical systems maintenance
