Responsibilities

  • Producing 3D models and manufacturing drawings from specs and concept designs.
  • Collaborating with Project Engineers and Design Managers.
  • Ensuring technical accuracy across drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
  • Liaising with manufacturing teams for production-ready designs.
  • Conducting site visits to resolve technical issues.
  • Flagging safety-critical design concerns.
  • Attending design reviews and contributing to production meetings.
  • Performing basic design calculations.

We have a current opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer on a contract basis. The position will be based in West Yorkshire For further information about this position please apply.

We're on the lookout for a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer with hands‑on experience in heavy manufacturing or food machinery. Whether you've worked in automotive, aerospace, shipbuilding, industrial machinery, or power generation, your design expertise is what we need to bring complex engineering projects to life.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Producing 3D models and manufacturing drawings from specs and concept designs.
  • Collaborating with Project Engineers and Design Managers to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ensuring technical accuracy across drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
  • Liaising with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production‑ready.
  • Conducting site visits to resolve technical issues and support installations.
  • Flagging safety‑critical design concerns and supporting root cause analysis.
  • Attending design reviews and contributing to production meetings.
  • Performing basic design calculations.
What You'll Bring
  • HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years' experience in design for manufacture.
  • Strong CAD skills – Autodesk Inventor preferred (SolidWorks also considered).
