Job summary

Mott MacDonald in the UK is seeking a Systems Engineer for our Nuclear, Defence and Civil division. You will work with designers and other engineers to develop system architectures and deliver key systems engineering artifacts.

The role involves stakeholder workshops, requirements development, architecture views, interface management, and ensuring timely delivery of critical project milestones. A degree in a technical field and willingness to pursue professional registration are required; UK

Qualifications

  • Understanding of systems engineering techniques across the lifecycle.
  • Good stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Knowledge of requirements development, preferably for infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of MBSE and system architecture development against an Architectural Framework.
  • Knowledge of System Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance strategies.
  • Experience with tools such as DOORS or similar and Sparx EA or similar.
  • Strong written communication and a methodical, detail-focused approach.
  • Experience in infrastructure projects or nuclear sector; other highly regulated, multi-disciplinary engineering industries valued.
  • Degree level qualification in a technical discipline.
  • Willing to work towards professional registration as an engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Capture stakeholder vision and define scope and boundary of the system, including Concept of Operations.
  • Develop system requirements throughout the lifecycle using a requirements tool.
  • Develop architectural views (functional and physical).
  • Apply scenario modelling and role modelling for capability evidence.
  • Work with designers to mature internal and external system interfaces.
  • Identify technical assumptions, dependencies and constraints.
  • Develop systems engineering artefacts to support reviews and client deliverables.
  • Generate object Verification & Validation evidence.
  • Support configuration management and assess technical change impacts.
  • Contribute to stakeholder workshops and data for reporting metrics.
  • Communicate complex content clearly across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports and artefacts per processes.
