Job summary

Mott MacDonald in the UK is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer within our Nuclear; Defence and Civil division. You will lead workshops, develop system architectures, and deliver key SE artefacts such as RAMS, SEMP, interface plans, and system requirements.

You will work with designers to define interfaces and manage verification and validation evidence throughout the lifecycle. The role emphasizes MBSE, stakeholder engagement, and delivering high-quality reports while supporting junior staff.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of systems engineering techniques across the engineering lifecycle.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
• Strong background in requirements development for infrastructure projects.
• MBSE approach and architecture development.
• Knowledge of system integration, test, evaluation and acceptance strategies.
• Proficiency with tools DOORS and Sparx EA for requirements and architecture.
• Excellent written communication with detail-focused approach.
• Experience in highly regulated multi-disciplinary engineering environments; nuclear sector preferred.
• Professional registration or willingness to pursue it.

Responsibilities

• Influence and translate stakeholder vision into system scope and operations concept.
• Develop and manage system requirements across the lifecycle using appropriate tools.
• Create system architectural views (functional, physical) and breakdown structures.
• Apply scenario and role modelling for capability evidence.
• Define internal and external system interfaces with designers.
• Identify dependencies, constraints and assumptions.
• Develop and review systems engineering artefacts for client reviews.
• Generate verification and validation evidence and support configuration management.
• Lead stakeholder workshops and communicate complex content clearly.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to professional development.
