Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Nuclear; Defence and Civil division, working with clients and designers to drive system architecture and lifecycle deliverables. You will lead stakeholder workshops, develop system requirements, and produce key artefacts across the project lifecycle.

The role requires MBSE experience, strong communication skills, and a background in infrastructure or similarly regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of systems engineering across the lifecycle.
• Experience in stakeholder management and communicating complex concepts.
• Background in requirements development for infrastructure projects.
• MBSE approach and architectural framework experience.
• Experience with System Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance.
• Proficiency with requirements tools (DOORS) and architecture tools (Sparx EA).
• Excellent written communication with detail-focused approach.
• Experience in regulated, multi-disciplinary engineering environments; nuclear sector preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead stakeholder workshops and define system boundaries and Ops Concept.
• Develop and manage system requirements throughout the lifecycle.
• Create architectural views: functional, physical, and breakdown structures.
• Apply modelling techniques for capability evidence.
• Define internal/external interfaces with designers and manage constraints.
• Develop and review artefacts for technical reviews and client deliverables.
• Generate verification and validation evidence.
• Support configuration management and impact assessments.
• Organise stakeholder workshops and communicate complex content to diverse audiences.
• Produce high-quality reports, presentations, and project artefacts.
• Mentor junior staff and oversee task supervision.
