Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Systems Engineer within the Nuclear, Defence and Civil division. You will work with designers to develop system architectures, capture requirements, and generate V&V evidence while meeting deadlines.

The role supports stakeholder workshops and integrates with multi-disciplinary teams across the UK. UK Security Clearance is required for sensitive projects; a hybrid working policy applies to balance client delivery with flexibility.

Qualifications

• Understanding of systems engineering techniques across the lifecycle.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
• Experience in requirements development, preferably for infrastructure projects.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and architectural frameworks.
• Knowledge of System Integration, Test, Evaluation & Acceptance strategies.
• Experience with tools for requirements management (DOORS) and architecture definition (Sparx EA).
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
• Experience in regulated, multi-disciplinary engineering environments (nuclear preferred).
• Willing to work towards professional registration as an engineer.

Responsibilities

• Capture and translate stakeholder vision into system scope and SOO.
• Develop system requirements across lifecycle using a requirements tool.
• Create architectural views (functional/physical) and interface definitions.
• Apply modelling techniques for capability assurance evidence.
• Collaborate with designers on interfaces and technical dependencies.
• Support technical reviews and client deliverables with artefacts.
• Generate Verification & Validation evidence.
• Contribute to change impact assessments and configuration management.
• Communicate technical content clearly to multi-disciplinary teams.
