Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Systems Engineer for its Nuclear, Defence and Civil division in the UK. You will work with designers and other systems engineers, supporting stakeholder workshops, developing system architectures, and delivering key artefacts such as requirements specifications, architecture descriptions, and interface control documents.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of systems engineering techniques across the lifecycle, with experience in a portion of the lifecycle.
  • Good stakeholder management with ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Knowledge of requirements development, preferably for infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of MBSE and architecture development against an Architectural Framework.
  • Knowledge of System Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance strategies.
  • Experience with typical systems engineering toolsets (DOORS, Sparx EA) for requirements and architecture.
  • Strong written communication with a methodical, detail-focused approach.
  • Experience in highly regulated, multi-disciplinary engineering environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and translate stakeholder vision, define system scope and boundary (CoO).
  • Develop system requirements across the lifecycle using a requirements tool.
  • Develop system architectural views (functional, physical).
  • Apply modelling techniques for capability assurance evidence.
  • Collaborate with designers on interfaces and technical considerations.
  • Identify technical assumptions, dependencies and constraints.
  • Create systems engineering artefacts for reviews and client deliverables.
  • Generate Verification & Validation evidence.
  • Support configuration management and impact assessments of changes.
  • Contribute to stakeholder workshops and reporting metrics.
  • Communicate complex content clearly across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports and project artefacts.
