Job summary

We are currently seeking enthusiastic Maternity Healthcare Support Workers to join our team at Princess Alexandra Wing, Royal Cornwall Hospital. The successful applicants will be responsible for supporting the midwifery team in delivering high standards of care to women and their babies.

Responsibilities
  • Assist and support midwifery staff with clinical duties. Establish a rapport with mothers and their families and communicate their needs to the midwife.
  • Support women to maintain personal hygiene and appearance following delivery, documenting any changes in skin appearance or bodily functions and reporting them to the registered midwife.
  • Assist women with eating and drinking, ensuring appropriate diet and fluids as indicated by their condition and preferences, and keeping intake records.
  • Work as a team member.
  • Perform clerical duties as designated by the ward manager.
Qualifications

Applicants must be trained to NVQ Level 2 (Health) or hold the Health Care Certificate. Venepuncture skills and previous knowledge of supporting feeding choices are desirable, but training will be provided to the right applicant.
