Job description

Job Title: Materials Planner

Location: Local to Shrewsbury

Salary: £35,000 £45,000 (DOE)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Orion are working with a fast‑paced manufacturing business local to Shrewsbury and are looking for a forward‑thinking, dynamic and experienced Materials Planner to support our growing operations and drive continuous improvement across our supply chain.

As a key member of the supply team, you'll be responsible for planning and managing material requirements to ensure efficient production flow. You'll work closely with procurement, engineering, and production teams to streamline processes and support lean manufacturing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain material plans to meet production schedules.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Analyse demand forecasts and inventory levels to optimise stock.
  • Support the implementation of lean principles and continuous improvement.
  • Use ERP systems (currently SAGE; transitioning to dual systems including 123 Insight).
  • Act as a departmental advocate, challenging existing processes and driving simplification.
Requirements
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles Kaban is essential
