THE EMPLOYER IS: RAILWAY PRESERVATION SOCIETY OF IRELANDThe Marketing and Events Assistant will play a key role in supporting the delivery of marketing initiatives and public events at Whitehead Railway Museum, part of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to develop practical skills in marketing, events management and visitor engagement within a heritage and tourism context.The role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional, visitor-focused environment while contributing to the promotion and delivery of engaging programmes that attract and inspire local communities, tourists, and railway enthusiasts. The successful candidate will work closely with staff and volunteers to help plan, promote and execute public events, activity days and special projects, while also assisting in creating content for social media, websites and printed promotional materials.This position is designed not only to provide practical occupational skills training in marketing and events but also to support the development of broader employability skills, including teamwork, communication, organisation, problem-solving, and time management. The role does involve some weekend working to support scheduled events, providing the opportunity to gain experience in live event delivery and customer-facing engagement.In addition to day-to-day responsibilities, the Marketing and Events Assistant will receive structured guidance, mentoring, and professional development, including CV and interview support, masterclasses with marketing professionals and access to workshops and networking opportunities.
