Job Description

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support complex programmes within the Space & Defence sector. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of cutting-edge technologies and deliver key manufacturing solutions.

About the Project

This role sits within a highly specialised programme supporting the delivery of complex satellite and defence-grade electronic systems. As part of this team, you will contribute to the industrialisation and manufacture of mission-critical products, including high-reliability electronic assemblies used in space-based platforms and secure defence environments.

You'll be embedded within a collaborative engineering function, working closely with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturing readiness, continuous improvement, and compliance to rigorous industry standards. Your work will directly support new product introduction, process optimisation, and the long-term success of next-generation space and defence systems.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Using established Space and Defence processes, you will:
  • Create and maintain Work Instructions to ensure production quality and compliance
  • Manage Non-Quality issues relating to Manufacturing processes
  • Embed and modify routings within SAP ME systems
  • Provide technical support to investigations and reviews (IRBs/NRBs)
  • Carry out Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities on new product designs
  • Implement and maintain Health & Safety standards across the production environment
  • Monitor, analyse and improve manufacturing efficiencies
  • Support qualifications and trials for new designs and components
Key Deliverables:
  • Delivery of accurate Work Instructions aligned to project schedules
  • Effective resolution of Non-Quality events impacting the Product Line
  • Completion of qualifications and trials for new designs and components
  • Planning and prioritising activities in line with manufacturing throughput
Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required:
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Engineering within the Space, Aerospace, or Military Electronics sector
  • Strong knowledge of high-reliability electronics, surface mount assembly, and RF products
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the project lifecycle, including design, production, formal reviews, programme control, risk management, and cost control
  • General awareness of Manufacturing Systems such as CAD, CAM, Manufacturing Execution Systems, SAP, and Technical Publications
  • Demonstrated experience working within a matrix structure and collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Proactive mindset with a proven ability to drive improvements and implement beneficial changes
