The Manager, Pre-Sales Engineering manages pre-sales technical staff and support activities for the development and implementation of complex products and solutions. Provides and/or oversees pre-sales technical support in sales presentations and product demonstrations. Works with marketing, operations, and product managers to define new products. Serves as company liaison on specific technical projects with customers. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the global team. What you'll be doing:
- Promote the company's products/services addressing or predicting clients' objectives while building long-term relationships with customers.
- Serve as a technical coach to colleagues in sales, professional services, product management and engineering.
- Lead organizational processes behind the analysis, explanations, and sale of technical solutions to customers.
- Coach team delivery of differentiated solution presentations/demonstrations or technical proposals to prospective customers.
- Lead qualifies, manages, monitors technical validation activities, including demos, workshops, proof of concepts.
- Coordinate and organizes demand generating activities like Accounts days, tradeshows, marketing events or customer workshops.
- Manage a global team of consultants and resources: allocation of pre- sales for each opportunity, training, review.
- Drive team readiness managing hiring process, conducting performance reviews, coaching, and developing team technical skills.
- Speak in customer / marketing forums to increase brand awareness and propagate internal solutions and gain mindshare and market share.
- Drive best practices such as sales messaging and influences positive behavior across the organization.
- Support the Product team through the product development lifecycle and provide inputs on product features from a business requirements/customer perspective.
- Support the Advanced Engineering leadership team with organizational initiatives domestically and internationally.
- May lead important projects that require providing experienced project team members with instruction, guidance and advice in all aspects of the project to ensure delivery of quality outcomes.
- Build effective team(s) through the development of a global presales staff, both individually and as a team.

- Address employee time off requests and approve timecards (if applicable) weekly.

Minimum 12+ years of relevant professional experience.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of sales, technical (preferably hardware) sales and/or pre-sales experience and one to three (1-3) years management experience.
- Broad, in-depth knowledge of data center hardware e.g. storage, servers and networking.
- Experience with selling server and enterprise storage and/or hardware maintenance solutions.
- Experience with technical sales/pre-sales in one or more of the following enterprise server/storage technologies: EMC, SUN, Hitachi, HP, Dell, IBM, NetApp or Cisco.
- Experience in technical pre-sales into Data Centers and/or Data Center Technologies or experience in running Data Centers and/or Data Center Technologies.
- Knowledgeable in legacy server/storage technologies.
- Evidence of strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Delivers upon and drives strategic initiatives in the functional area, as well as influencing across the organization.
- Deep industry technical knowledge and understanding of a customer's decision-making process, goals, strategies, and business objectives.
- Fully adept at presentations, financial acumen, negotiation, executive presence, and mentoring/coaching.
- Motivating, positive presence and the ability to lead and compel others to achieve objectives., Bachelor's Degree required.
