Company Overview

United Infrastructure is a dynamic and rapidly expanding business, focused on delivering critical infrastructure projects across the utility and social infrastructure sectors. Our company is split into two business areas: Utility Infrastructure – design, build and maintain critical water, energy (gas), power and telecoms infrastructure for the UK's largest network owners and operators; Social Infrastructure – revitalise homes and communities through a wide range of retrofit to refurbishment and maintenance work.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Management Accountant you will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of financial records through diligent reconciliation activities and for working as a key member of the Record to Report team.

Responsibilities
  • Process and review accounts, including balance sheet accuracy and management, across multiple Business Units within UI.
  • Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and enter journals into the system.
  • Support the preparation of management accounts and month‑end duties.
  • Conduct timely balance sheet reconciliations at the company‑wide level as well as Legal Entity or Business Area level when required.
  • Maintain adherence to, and implementation of, a strong control environment.
  • Work collaboratively across the Finance community to deliver results on time.
Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with sound organisational skills to achieve deadlines.
  • Successful relationship builder; ability to communicate clearly across a range of customer contacts, from Site Finance Assistants to Group‑level Directors.
  • Strong technical background; good understanding of controls and processes with a focus on compliance and timely internal (Period End) and external deadlines.
  • Strong computer literacy; good/advanced user of Excel.
  • Part‑qualified or QBE.
  • Willing to get involved; a hands‑on role that balances leadership with technical knowledge to ensure tasks get done on time and fully.
  • Takes initiative, takes ownership of their area and challenges the status quo in pursuit of greater efficiency.
  • Pride in their work; outputs from the Record to Report team are representative of the wider team, demanding attention to detail and excellent presentation.
