Our Opportunity

Thales UK has an exciting opportunity for a Management Reporting Accountant to join the OME UK Finance team. You will join OME during a record order book and a revenue growth trajectory of approximately 10% across our 5‑year strategic planning window. The OME business has a varied portfolio across Sea, Air, and Land sectors, including complex product development, systems integration, product manufacturing, and service support projects. The role will support the objectives of the overall Optronics & Missile Electronics business (OME UK) while working closely with the Operations functions and Business sector teams.

The Key Responsibilities of the Management Reporting Accountant
  • Assist in managing the Company’s reporting, forecasting, budgeting and project accounting control processes to meet agreed financial objectives
  • Ensure adequate financial control through compliance with Group and Statutory requirements
  • Collaborate closely with Operations functions and Business sectors to facilitate effective financial management
  • Work with the Senior Finance Manager to adhere to the month‑end reporting timetable and timely submissions into the consolidated reporting tool (Magnitude)
  • Provide accurate and insightful analysis on project‑related Balance Sheet items in support of the Business Controller team, focusing on Unbilled/WIP/Inventory
  • Support Operations functions by reporting actual performance versus budget for all functions, re‑forecasting, variance analysis, utilisation and labour recovery reporting
  • Lead the annual rates process for the OME business for both Internal and MoD External rates
  • Support Multi‑Year Budgeting activities, determining recoverable hours (MYB) and utilisation analysis, providing meaningful business insight for decision‑making
  • Work with Operations and Head of Operations on monthly financial performance requirements, issue identification, and improvement implementation
  • Finance Lead for Operations/Supply and Resource Planning (S & OP) meetings per the OME monthly timetable
  • Provide accurate and timely OME central/reporting items to external auditors and resolve follow‑up questions; support Senior Finance Manager in audit planning and project management
  • Lead and coordinate the annual ICQ return for OME, identifying required action plans to close non‑compliance areas
  • Primary point of contact for the OME MoD rates audit and responsible for accurate and timely submission of deliverables in Defcars
  • Identify, implement, enforce, and continuously review effective financial controls
  • Serve as primary finance point of contact for Inventory reporting, including Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO)
  • Perform ad‑hoc tasks as necessary
About You
You will need to be passionate and driven and have the following
  • Skills and Qualifications: Experienced CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified accountant or Qualified by Experience
  • Proven experience in financial accounting
  • Knowledge of Oracle/Cognos BI/TM1 advantageous (training will be provided)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to interact with non‑finance managers and individuals at all levels
