Roles and Responsibilities

Your primary role will be to provide attentive supervision and support during various activities. This includes:
● Supervision during Activities: Accompanying him on walks, tram rides, and city centre explorations, ensuring his safety and engagement.
● Encouraging Hydration and Meals: Gently reminding him to drink water and eat snacks or meals, especially since he can get grumpy when hungry.
● Understanding Sensory Needs: Being aware that he may need to jump or move a few steps ahead as part of his sensory diet. It's important not to be alarmed by these movements, as he will return once stimulated.
● Responding to Needs: Being responsive to his communicated needs, particularly for toilet breaks.
● Promoting Independence: Supporting his existing independence in self-care while providing necessary oversight. This also includes gradually encouraging him to walk independently without holding hands, building on the progress he's already made with dad.

Specific Requirements

● Must possess a valid UK driving licence and have access to a car.
● Current DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

About Me

I'm a 16-year-old boy with autism. My verbal communication is limited, but I am fully mobile and independent with personal care, including feeding, bathing, and cleaning myself. I communicate my needs directly, though my comprehension can be limited at times.

I can let you know when I need a toilet break. I might need gentle reminders to drink water and eat, as I can get grumpy if I'm hungry and need a snack.
Sometimes, as part of my sensory diet, I might need to jump or move a few steps ahead. Please don't be alarmed by this; I'll return once I've regulated myself.

Hobbies and Interests

I really enjoy being outdoors. I love walks and am always aware of road safety – I'll never run into the street. Swimming and cycling are also my favourite activities. I enjoy riding the tram and exploring the city centre, taking breaks regularly.
