Overview
An opportunity has become available for a Maintenance Technician (mechanical bias) at a major industrial gases production facility in Morden, South London. The successful candidate will join a team of skilled engineers in maintaining the safe and reliable operation of the equipment on the Morden site and its satellite sites. This vacancy will suit an experienced time-served mechanical technician with an engineering background (centrifugal / reciprocating compressors and pumps) with knowledge of permit to work and contractor control.
Salary: £40 - £45k pa depending on experience plus £2,947 London weighting. Location: Morden. Hours: Shift pattern is 1 shift per day, 6am - 2pm. Duration: 6 months (may become permanent).
Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting the mechanical maintenance programme for all aspects of production on-site and on the offsite plants to measured KPI targets and response to breakdowns to ensure continuous reliable and efficient operation.
- You will be maintaining equipment in a manufacturing facility that produces high quality gas cylinders to customers who use our products for Food preparation, Pharmaceutical, Universities and many other industries.
- This is a hands-on position, where you will be expected to maintain all plant and equipment, in adherence with all operating and safety procedures. This position includes installation, commissioning and maintenance of all plant and equipment on the cylinder filling site.
- We are looking for a highly enthusiastic individual to join our team, with at least one trade. Ideally, you are a Mechanically competent technician, with additional trades (beneficial).
- You will need to follow our Safety, Quality and Environmental standards and operate according to our procedures diligently.
- You will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Contractors to plan and execute all Planned, Preventative and Defect Maintenance Activities, including weekend work as required.
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Time served craftsman with appropriate City and Guilds/NVQ3/ONC/HNC Mechanical Technician qualifications.
- Experience of working in a process plant environment.
- In their designated discipline, experience of maintenance, including reciprocating pumps (ideally cryogenic), Electrical, Instrument and Mechanical subsystems.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of industry and statutory standards and codes of practice.
- Knowledge of COMAH responsibilities and competency requirements.
- Good understanding of current Health, Safety and Environment legislation.
- Experience with MS Office programs; SAP would be beneficial.
- Energetic, self-motivated and disciplined.
